Prayagraj — Sangam Nagri

Formerly known as Allahabad, Prayagraj is one of India's holiest cities and the host of the world's largest human gathering — the Kumbh Mela.

🕉 Spiritual Significance

Prayagraj is the site where Lord Brahma performed the first-ever yajna. The Triveni Sangam — confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati — is considered one of the holiest spots in Hinduism.

Historical Legacy

Home to the Allahabad Fort built by Emperor Akbar in 1583, Anand Bhawan (Nehru family home), and the Allahabad High Court — one of the oldest in India. Known as the City of Prime Ministers.

🎓 Educational Hub

Allahabad University — the fourth oldest in India — earned the city the nickname "Oxford of the East." The city also hosts IIIT Allahabad and several prestigious institutions.

🪔 Kumbh Mela

The Kumbh Mela held every 12 years at Triveni Sangam is the largest religious gathering in the world. The Ardha Kumbh is held every 6 years and Magh Mela is an annual event in January-February.
